NYSPHSAA Announces 2015-16 Coaches of the Year
 

Latham, NY- The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is proud to announce its 2015-16 coach of the year winners. NYSPHSAA, in conjunction with the New York State Coaches Association, selected one winner per varsity sport as a coach of the year. Nominations were submitted to and determined by the NYS Coaches Association with winners able to be considered for regional and national coach of the year honors by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). State winners were required to submit an online application to be considered for a regional or national coach of the year award.


            Of the 21 NYSPHSAA Coach of the Year award winners, seven were selected as Region One Coach of the Year as selected by the NFHS. Region one covers schools in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. All seven were eligible for the NFHS National Coach of the Year. Three coaches from New York were named NFHS national coaches of the year. Katherine Stackel from Cophenhagen Central School (Girls Soccer), Danielle Gallagher of Manhasset High School (Girls Lacrosse) and Reid Sclafani from Garden City (Girls Golf).

           

            The complete list of state, regional, and national coaches of the year is below. The awards from the NFHS will be distributed to the winners at upcoming athletic council meetings.
