Welcome to “Milk Moves of the Week” sponsored by Refuel With Chocolate Milk from the American Dairy Association North East! Outstanding athletic performance is evidence of practice, superior physical conditioning and good nutrition. Each week, we share a rundown from around the state of the top “Milk Moves” of the week as nominated by our member schools, coaches, media partners, and fans. No matter the sport, we want to share the accomplishments of NYSPHSAA student-athletes!

Wrestling: Ryan Bitka (Tonawanda) went 5-0 at the Jon Vesper Memorial Duals this past week. The victories bring his total record to 13-0 this year with eight of those victories coming by pin.

Girls Basketball: Jillian Casey (Horseheads) knocked down a school record nine 3-pointers during a 38 point performance in a win over Johnson City.

Boys Ice Hockey: Chris Cromwell (Monroe-Woodbury) led his team with 4 goals and an assist in a high-scoring 10-7 victory over Pawling.

Girls Indoor Track & Field: Sophia Franco (Scarsdale) set a new PR in the 600m with a time of 1:34.07 at the Section I Kickoff meet.

Boys Basketball: Joe Girard III (Glens Falls) racked up 53 points, scoring on eight 3-pointers along the way in a win over Hudson Falls.

Boys Swimming & Diving: Leo Kuyl (New Paltz) finished the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.22, good for the best time in the state so far this season. Kuyl also holds the top time in the 100 Freestyle at 46.87.

Boys Basketball: Jack Lambert (Cooperstown) covered nearly all areas of the stat sheet, scoring 30 points along with 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals in a victory over Utica Academy of Science.

Boys Indoor Track & Field: Armani Merlino (Lancaster) set a new PR in the 3200m with a time of 9:36.67 at the Ithaca College Bomber HS Invitational.

Girls Basketball: Harmony Philo (Gloversville) scored 38 points, including eight 3-pointers, in a win over Glens Falls.
