Milk Moves of the Week - Oct 9, 2019

Welcome back to our “Milk Moves of the Week” sponsored by Refuel With Chocolate Milk from the American Dairy Association North East! Outstanding athletic performance is evidence of practice, superior physical conditioning and good nutrition. Each week, we share a rundown from around the state of the top “Milk Moves” of the week as nominated by our member schools, coaches, media partners, and fans. No matter the sport, we want to share the accomplishments of NYSPHSAA student-athletes!

Football: Zack Boyes (Kenmore West) broke a 50-year old school record by throwing for 424 yards and 4 touchdowns as his team beat Niagara Wheatfield 54-28. He also scored two rushing touchdowns on two 1-yard runs.

Boys Cross Country: Riley Brutvan (New Paltz) won the Brewster Bear Classic finishing the 5k with a time of 15:47.3.

Girls Volleyball: Mckayla Hayner (Fort Plain) recorded 8 aces, 3 digs, 2 kills, and 17 service points in the sweep against Hadley Luzerne.

Boys Soccer: Ethan Knauf (Lake George) had 3 goals and 2 assists in a win over North Warren. Two goals and an assist all came within a span of three minutes.

Girls Swimming and Diving: Gwen Lister (Jamesville DeWitt) swam the 100 freestyle in 56.85 giving her the fastest time in the state so far this season.

Boys Volleyball: Teddy Payne (Clarence) had 37 assists as the Red Devils came back from two sets down to beat Orchard Park 3-2.

Girls Field Hockey: Hannah Risko (Guilderland) scored all three in a 3-1 win against Burnt Hills.

Girls Soccer: Baylin Tighe (Tonawanda) had 5 goals and 5 assists in a win over Lackawanna.

Girls Cross Country: Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland) set a course record as she won the Great American Cross-Country Festival. She ran the 5k with a time of 16:22.8, knocking 13 seconds off the course record.
