Welcome to the next edition of “Milk Moves of the Week” sponsored by Refuel With Chocolate Milk from the American Dairy Association North East! Outstanding athletic performance is evidence of practice, superior physical conditioning and good nutrition. Each week, we share a rundown from around the state of the top “Milk Moves” of the week as nominated by our member schools, coaches, media partners, and fans. No matter the sport, we want to share the accomplishments of NYSPHSAA student-athletes!
Boys Soccer: Will Bowen (Pittsford Sutherland) scored 4 goals in a win over East Syracuse Minoa.
Girls Field Hockey: Bella DeAmelia (Warrensburg) had five saves to shut out Greenwich and got the win 2-0.
Girls Soccer: Leah Monroe (Bolton-Warrensburg) scored five goals and added two assists in a win over Old Forge.
Football: Gavin Elston (Horseheads) carried the ball 18 times for 346 yards and six TDs in a 49-14 win over Vestal.
Girls Cross Country: Sydney Nowicki (Lockport) won the Alden Bulldog Stampede 5k with a time of 18:05.8.
Boys Cross Country: Shazim Permaul (Schenectady) finished third in the varsity race at the Manhattan Invitational covering the 2.5 mile course in 13:06.3.
Boys Golf: Mathew Smith (Hoosick Falls) shot a 3-under-par 68, including a 147-yard hole in one, and helped his team win the Section 2 C/D title.
Girls Swimming and Diving: Sarah Tsai (Great Neck North) set a new state record for the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 23.46.
