NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship

On Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, 2008, Foxfire Golf Course in Baldwinsville, N.Y. will be the site of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls' Golf State Championship. Sections 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 will be competing in this year's 36-hole event.

The girls will play a practice round on Friday, June 6 with tee times starting at 9 a.m. On Saturday, June 7, the competition begins at 11 a.m. with the girls playing 18 holes on the Hal Purdy-designed, championship layout. The final 18 holes will be contested Sunday, June 8. Tee off will be a shotgun format at 7:45 a.m. with the leaders teeing off hole No. 1.

Spectators are welcome. Please check in at the registration table before heading out on the course.


Spectator Guidelines

  • Please feel free to ask for a tournament pairing sheet at the registration desk or the pro shop.
  • The use of motorized golf carts are permitted subject to the rules listed below.
  • Carts must remain at least 20 yards away from players.
  • Parents, relatives and friends are permitted to walk around with the competitors(in the rough areas and away from the tees and greens). There will be NO COMMUNICATION.
  • There will be NO COACHING of the competitors by coaches or spectators during the round of play. Any player communicating with or receiving coaching may be penalized 2 strokes or disqualified from the tournament.
  • Keep cheering positive. There should be no profanity or degrading language or gestures.
  • Show appreciation of good play by all competitors.
  • Learn the rules of the game in order to be a better informed spectator.
  • Encourage other spectators to participate in the spirit of the game.
  • Accept the judgment of tournament officials.
  • Treat all competitors in a manner in which you would expect to be treated.
  • Cameras may be used between shots only. At no time should photos be taken when a player is swinging or setting up to play a shot.
  • Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed around the competitors.
  • Smoking and the use of tobacco products should not take place.
  • During inclement weather, when the horn sounds, spectators should take precautions such as:
    • move toward rain shelters
    • seek shelter in automobiles or buses

    In all circumstances, avoid the following:
    • open areas
    • hilltops and high places
    • isolated trees
    • golf carts
    • wire fences
